The Ramotswa aquifer is shared by Botswana and South Africa. It has been investigated during the project "Resilience in the Limpopo Basin: the Potential Role of the Transboundary Ramotswa Aquifer" - RAMOTSWA project in short, during phases 1 (2015-2017) and 2 (2017-2019). The RAMOTSWA project (http://ramotswa.iwmi.org) focuses on one of the most important shared aquifers in Southern Africa, the Ramotswa Transboundary Aquifer shared by Botswana and South Africa. Funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), the project supports equitable access to water that balances urban and rural needs with ecosystem requirements under a changing climate. It reduces climate vulnerability by promoting adaptation strategies for integrated, transboundary water resources management. Through building the capacity of transboundary River Basin Organizations, national authorities and local communities to sustainably manage natural resources, high priority ecosystems and human communities will be more resilient to climate induced pressure. As part of the project, groundwater-related data and information were compiled, which are now available in the SADC-GIP.
